Qualifier will be chosen at the of the tournaments.

ICTcamerone wrote:Did ya have to put this on a Friday, lol. I'll try and make this one, I normally work on Fridays.
What's the rules for players failing the song?

ICTcamerone wrote:So if my opponent picks a song and we both fail, it's whoever has the highest % at point of failing? I can do that.
Really, random seeding is the only way to eliminate total unfairness. If you set up the best against the worst, the worse players cry nub. If you set up the best against the best in single elimination (i'm assuming that's the format here) then the top 3 will not accurately represent the best 3 players of the tournament no matter what.
Unless you have a unique way of doing this. I can't wait, lol.

AxioM wrote:Good stuff organizing this Jbean. I hope it works out, and that people can commit to it.

typobox43 wrote:Getting a 32 person tournament done in 4 hours would be quite the amazing feat.

ICTcamerone wrote:Well, assuming a 3 minute max per song (no long songs I take it) and a max of 3 rounds per match, the actual play time (excluding the qualifier, breaks if given, finding people when their match is up) is a bit more than 4.5 hours.
The owners don't like this? Really, I didn't know they were adverse to the idea of money.

AxioM wrote:Wow man. The management at your arcade is ridiculous. They're asking some insane stuff from the players. Pay an entry fee (free play, yeah, but still) for a possible shot at 20% of the entry money. AND you require at least 24 people to enter.
First of all, 24 people entering a local tournament just isn't going to happen unless you get the word out. It'd be great if it did, and perhaps I'm just super out of the loop, but last I checked, our local scene was fairly skimpy at the moment.
This isn't your fault, obviously, I just hope it works out for you guys with such shenanigin stipulations from your bosses. :/

Yeah, thats why my coworker and I tried to keep it under wraps. We have a TON of GZ players though so we will make it. They are money money money in any form. They dont even realize that 1/2 the business on that machine is from me and my custom version/songs. This tourney going on behind their backs was "my last chance at a job there" but they know the place will die without me and I told them that if I go, all my material on that machine goes and I revert it back to factory settings.

ICTcamerone wrote:but someone else will just hack it and put songs on it.

ICTcamerone wrote:Oh. I was under the impression that you didn't need to open up the machine anymore since the BIOS passwords are public now. I'm not very knowledgeable in this area, I'm afraid.

ICTcamerone wrote:Wow, like completely random? Doesn't even choose one of the passwords that's listed? That would be odd.

Damien wrote:Good idea but I don't see you getting 24 people. Especially at 4 for registration, since most of them has to have their mommy drop them off and wont be off work yet.

XOmegaZZ wrote:Alright, lets do some simple math here-
Let's say you have the minimum 24 people enter. At $5 each that puts in $120 total. 20% of that is $24 (and of course, Gamezone would assumingly pocket almost $100). Actually, with any number of people, it basically adds up that first place will get $1 per person who enters.
Furthermore, only 1 person (1st place) will actually make a profit. Hell, the other 2 places won't break even, and first place will only win about 5 times what their entry fee is. If there's one person who decides to enter who's a lot better than everyone else, why would anyone else enter if they feel they didn't have a legitimate shot at winning the (only) prize money? That's going to greatly discourage people from entering.
Also, I really don't see how 24 people will turn out for this weekly. I mean, the last main tournament that was held in Kansas City was what, the NAT qualifiers at Nascart? That was back in December '05, and that only got 16 people (not to mention about a quarter of that figure was from people from out of town).
In short, Jordan's employers are really f'ing stupid for thinking they can run a tournament like this. I know this is probably out of Jordan's control, but the way it's being setup is ridiculous.

XOmegaZZ wrote:I'm guessing what I've got on my computer/our ITG machine is pretty much the same as what you've got at Gamezone as far as ITG stuff is concerned ITG3 wise, considering mDawg got pissed when we first posted vids of ITG3 sims on our machine.
Some of those charts are absolutely god awful.

ICTcamerone wrote:Long story short, if the steps to Hasse Miche on the GZ machine are official, I'll take any other chart someone can make for it. If you want to make ITG3 stuff playable that's fine with me; derek, alex, and I are probably the only ones coming in from out of town who don't have that stuff anyway.
