TA Brady's

Postby chris » Thu Mar 18, 2004 11:33 pm

I was up there tonight to play, and they have really let their stuff go. The old 4th+ machine now only displays two colors (I think blue is broken maybe) and subsequently the arrows almost fade away as they scroll through colors when they turn blue. Also, the left speaker is blown out. On top of that, the left side of the pad doesn't work well.

The extreme machine is somewhat better. The only problem that I had was that the left side down arrow didnt work consistently.

Both machines are 50 cents for 3 songs which is a great price.

That damn 4th mix machine has been messed up for awhile now.. when I was there almost a year ago the screen was messed up, although the pads worked okay at that time.

I'll actually be taking a roadtrip to CoMo sometime next month, probably to attend either forensics or choir state competition for Allison.. so I guess I'll see if they do anything with them.

BTW.. if I DO take a weeked trip down there, I'll be sure to post it in the "Roadtrips" forum, for anyone who might be interested in tagging along.

I'll come play when you;re up here. But actually...the 4th mix was black and white for over a year. Just a couple of weeks ago it suddenly had color again.

Check this out for irony or just dessert or whatever:

I brought the first DDR machine to the Columbia area. (Had it at my place like 10 miles outside of town.)

I brought it and Dance Freaks to a Fundraiser on the MU campus. Must have started a buzz, because within weeks TA Bradys asked for one.

Scene in Columbia explodes

Fast forward...

I end up managing Gunthers, closing my arcade and bringing the Bemani with me.

--->

I quit Gunthers and end up finding my oppurtunity up here in St. Joe

I take out my Bemani from Gunthers, and will soon remove the 4th that's at the ARC.

Columbia scene is history.

I definitely find this amusing. Can't take credit for it, but the patterns are consitent. (But what really killed it was lots of 'Drama' on ddrstl. Some involving me, some involving player personal problems, but lots of drama.)

Came and went in Columbia I guess. Going strong in KC, and off to a good start in St. Joe.

Faded, are you going to bring the 4th up to St. Joe? If so, do you think you could upgrade it to a 4th+?

They fixed the screen on the 4th+ at Brady's recently so that it's in nearly perfect condition. It's not dark and hard to see like it used to be. The left speaker is still dead and the pads still suck though.

Anthony and I are going to be in CoMo on April 29th and 30th (Thursday night and Friday). We'll probably stop by here at some point while we are in town, if anyone wants to meet up with us.

I'm going to be at TA Brady's tomorrow afternoon sometime. I'm helping Allison move into her dorm room tomorrow, so I'll be in Columbia pretty much all day, and I plan on playing some DDR in my spare time.

If anyone wants to meet up with me, I'll be there sometime in the afternoon or early evening, as I said earlier. And if you have my cell phone number, give me a call or something.

What the hell? When did Brady's get rid of 4th plus? I was quite upset that I didn't get to play my favorite mix during my visit this weekend...

It happened a few weeks ago. A lot of people were shocked as well, but the quality of the machine was very poor from what I heard and saw.

Just thought I would say that it was awesome there today. In honor of their 42nd birthday every game was supposed to be a qurter until 12:00 pm. But they were too busy to come shut it off so ddr was 25 cents all afternoon. Along with Teken 5. good times.

Update - every machine was set back to normal except for ddr. It was still one qurter for 3 songs on extreme. Not bad at all. Tomorrow we weill find out if it was on accident or not though. =/ But it seems odd to just forget that one. I hope it stays. I am theorizing that it made a lot of money that day so they are keeping it. *shrug

They need the 4th plus back. Is there any chance they kept the upgrade when they got the machine or are they storing it?

I am pretty sure they are storing it. They do that with almost every game they take out of there.

4th+ was the only thing i'd play when I'd visit CoMo. I'd love to see it again.

despite low traffic 'round these parts, hello.

i live pretty durn close to campus, and was wondering if someone will tell me how to get to TA Brady's from the corner of ninth and university. or shakespeare's.

i think these winter months will require me to go somewhere to dance out all the energy i'm bound to have in the winter.

Exit Shakespeare's, turn right and start walking. (Follow a straight line instead of following the road when it curves right.)

When you end up going down a big flight of stairs, Brady Commons will be the building on your left.

Turn left and go in the lower level.

It's in the basement of Brady Commons. If you're walking, just go south on 9th Street (to your left if you're walking down University Ave towards 9th). When the road curves to the right, just continue walking straight, through Speaker's Circle and down the walkway between the Arts & Science building on the left and the law school building on the right. Near the end of that walkway, on your left, is Brady Commons. Probably about a 10-15 minute walk if I remember correctly.

P.S. If you play on the 2P side, hit the right arrow on it's right half to make it work!

edit: Faded wins, I'm too slow :)

The machine is still there? That's good news.
Hopefully I can make it back there sometime this summer or early next semester. The last time I was there (late last semester), they were taking a lot of the games out. I think they took about half of them...

Have you heard anything about how long the DDR machine's going to stay there, or what's happening to it once the current T. A. Brady's closes?
